Balance. PBS.

Editor,
"Balance" in broadcasting does not mean airing equivalent minutes of right, left, and other views during every program. It means presenting a variety of perspectives across all of the programs aired. This allows any particular position to be fleshed out in its entirety rather than to be diluted with contradictory and confusing arguments and claims. PBS long ago sold out to corporate interests, but it still poses as "community" broadcasting. If this tepid substitute for free speech worries Kenneth Y. Tomlinson as being "too liberal," one can only imagine how extreme his right-wing bias is.
