Editor,
An economic recovery that "leaves Americans behind"?
BushCo unashamedly supports hoarding by and distribution of the nations's wealth to the rich, in the form of tax cuts for the wealthy and corporate welfare. The poor get "faith based" charity, and people who live paycheck to paycheck are imagined to invest in "education accounts", "healthcare accounts", "retirement accounts", and the like. BushCo government is government by the rich for the rich, so let's not call it being left behind. Let's call it being thrown out of the lifeboat, which is what it is.
I find it fascinating that right-wing ideologues believe that evolution is "just a theory", but a basic tenet of the "culture of life" is that if you can not afford to pay your own way, you are not fit to survive. And the vicissitudes of the returns on global capitalists' investments are no excuse. If "faith based" charities are not enough to get you through hard times, well, don't come begging to the government for a job, because BushCo is continuing to slash funding for every segment of the public sector.
