Editor,
Dennis Hastert claims that American troops must remain in Iraq so we can fight "the terrorists" there, not here on the streets of our major cities. Does this mean "the terrorists" are pinned down in Iraq? Iraqi fighters opposing American troops because they want us to leave Iraq seem not to have much interest in invading the United States. It was we who invaded them, was it not? And why does our fighting Iraqis in Iraq mean al Qaeda is obligated to fight us in Iraq? How does that work? Wouldn't al Qaeda relish the thought of attacking our "homeland" while our troops are fruitlessly engaged overseas?
