Frankenfoods

Editor,

The real problem with cloned livestock is the problem of monoculture -- refining a species' gene pool so narrowly that one particular disease or environmental stressor could wipe it out. The same is true for factory farming vegetable products. Reducing biodiversity is a risk that is taken never on the basis of best farming practices but always to increase corporations' and thus international investors' profits.
