Buying goods that are assembled by workers who are paid 30 cents an hour and work 15 hours a day -- in a country where toxic waste created in the manufacture of those goods is dumped willy-nilly into the air, the ground, and the water -- and those goods are marked up 5,000% by a multinational corporation whose profits are in the billions of dollars a year and does not employ American workers because we are too expensive would not pass Thomas Jefferson's smell test for ethical behavior.
