Your list in "A Worsening Food Crisis" (4/20/08) of the causes of increasing hunger in developing economies omitted reason #1: multinational corporations having coopted local economies into the global commodities markets, replacing agriculture for local consumption with factory farming for export, thus creating hunger for many in the midst of plenty to maximize profit for a few.
