A Fool’s Paradise

The decline was not "unconscious". It was deliberate in that a wacky anti-government, free market ideology has gripped even Democratic administrations since Milton Friedman in the person of Ronald Reagan seized power in 1979.

No one told the academics in the basement of the Chicago School of Economics that when corporations are given absolutely free reign to do whatever they want, they will steal as much money from whomever they can until the entire economy collapses around them.

It's the nature of "business". It's the reason we have governments -- had governments until "business" took ours over.
