From Nowheresville.

Editor,

The real front line in the war on terror is right here in the U.S.A. against an American political culture that has become enraptured with the myths of free-market fundamentalism -- with its attendant enslavement of workers in the global south, its support of authoritarian regimes that stamp out with torture and murder dissent and agitation for economic democracy, and its phenomenal concentration of the vast share of the wealth of the global economy in the hands of an obscenely opulent few.

Look at the destruction this philosophy, which has driven policy in the United States for the last 30 years, has wrought here at home, then magnify it a thousand fold to understand why there are enemies plotting to destroy our ruling class.

The way the United States does business has got to change, and the people who like it just the way it is are not going to give up their Lear jets and Caribbean villas voluntarily. Meanwhile, it's only a matter of time before workers like you and me are caught in the crossfire again.

And of course the bosses at the top decree that more poor kids from Nowheresville have got to go and kill more kids in Afghanistan to keep the party going.
