Editor,
"How the Thundering Herd Faltered and Fell" (11/8/2008) illuminates the fundamental flaw in the American financial "system," which by the way is the same flaw that has corrupted the American health care system, and it is that essential economic and social services have been privatized into the hands of corporations who do not give a damn about the American people and steal as much as they can in the most elaborate ways they can imagine.
The U.S. government should provide a not-for-profit national bank, just as it should provide not-for-profit health insurance, to keep the wheels of American commerce turning. The minuscule minority of rapacious slime balls living among us who complain that this is "socialism" are outnumbered 99% to one, and they're just going to have to get a job like everybody else.
