Gang of thugs.

Editor,

More than enough authenticated documents have been made public, and more than enough televised statements by Dick Cheney, George W. Bush, and others in the Bush administration admitting that they redefined torture then ordered it are readily available to begin a war crimes prosecution.

Everyone in the world knows this gang of thugs are war criminals. Glossing this over and excusing them as well-intentioned because they committed their crimes from within the halls of American government is to heap disrespect on some of the most solemn and necessary international agreements and American laws.

Laws and conventions against torture are intended to prevent and to punish precisely what these people did. Just because they were American government officials is no reason to weasel out of prosecuting them.
