Barons, counts, and kings.

It comes down to whose prosperity Reagan/Thatcher people care about, and the answer obviously lies in who benefits from free-market fundamentalist policies: giant corporations and very rich people.

So the problem right-wing politicians are trying to solve is not how to improve the economic position of the patsies (consumers, taxpayers, workers) on whom depends the ever-upward transfer of wealth American-style capitalism is designed to generate, but how to keep the fat cats in the jay-bird seat.

Whatever lies, dirtiness, brazenness are required to accomplish this are perfectly all right from their perspective. The world is theirs. We are inconsequential nits. They are the barons, counts, and kings.
