Shaving the numbers so it sounds like you're doing something is a dangerous and cynical game.

Science says that emissions must be reduced 75% - 80% below 1990 levels by 2050 to stave off the worst of what is becoming a rapidly-accelerating climate crisis. Approaching this calamity by nickel and diming it like you do your employees or fudging the numbers like the capital gains on your balance sheet is self-serving and myopic.

The ruling class culture that produces the policy makers in whose hands the fate of humanity rests is not geared to facing reality squarely and proceeding decisively. It runs on cheating, pretense, and appearances.
