Editor,
Why do Republicans harbor such hatred for the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th amendments to the U.S. Constitution? What is it that predisposes "fiscal conservatives" to think in authoritarian terms? Why for Republicans is "force" the method of choice for coping with conflict? Why does Republicans' love of money translate so seamlessly into sadism, torture, and coercion?
