Editor,
Why wasn't BP required to equip their well with a $500,000 safety valve, as underwater wells are in the North Sea, when they initially poked their well into the seabed under the Gulf of Mexico? Why was their backup the "low probability" that their blowout protector (BOP) would fail? Are none of the other wells in the Gulf of Mexico equipped with this $500,000 safety valve? Are Republicans still clamoring to get government off of business's back?
