Wracked with remorse.

Editor,

I actually feel a bit of compassion for Tony Hayward.

I hasten to add that I feel none for BP. But taking Mr. Hayward at his word -- and I do because he faced 7 hours of merciless grilling in that Congressional chamber all alone without once losing his composure and lashing out -- I believe that Mr. Hayward sincerely tried to change the corporate culture at BP from reckless endangerment of people, places, and things to a more responsible way of doing business. But he is one guy, just as he was one guy at that hearing.

No one man could ever hope to turn around the billions-driven juggernaut of an out-of-control, lawless corporate monstrosity like BP. Maybe I am just a hook-winked sap, but my own personal opinion is that Mr. Hayward really is as wracked with remorse as he says he is.

BP, though, should be dismantled. It is a menace and will never change.
