Editor,
One can not help but ask whose interests Republican politicians and right-wing media personalities mongering anger, fear, and hate are representing. What is the big fight in this country about anyway? In a word: money.
More money for the rich; more money for the corporations (through less oversight); less money for social programs; less money for the sick, the young, the poor, the old; less pay for workers, less benefits, no rights, no unions.
Guns seem to be the instrument of choice when the right wing decides to go for the gold. Look at Chile on 9/11/1973. Real guns there, figurative guns here.
The right wing has decided that the way to impose its agenda on the American working class is to foment fear, confusion, anger, and hate among the uninformed. Can the right come up with a soothing message that will achieve their aims? I don't think they're smart enough. Brutality is the only tool they know how to use.
