Truth.

Editor,

The right has no alternative but to foment fear and anger toward the supposed "tyranny" of progressive government to divert the fear and anger that right-wing media dupes would otherwise feel about the tyranny of corporate rule.

Right-wing rhetoric depends entirely on lies and manipulation of the truth because if the truth were not obfuscated by their media arm, the man on the street would demand economic democracy. How can you sell oligarchy, corporate larceny, and fascist government without scapegoating immigrants and inflaming the hatred of the uninformed for those who would represent their interests in the halls of government?

Also, right-wingers' argument that people who were incensed by George Bush's illegal torture policy and its cover-up and by his invasion of Iraq on false pretenses despite the protests of millions of people across the globe are somehow equivalent to right-wing propagandists who demonize politicians' efforts to rein in the brutality and inhumanity of the "health" insurance corporations is just one more example of the right-wing's utter contempt for the truth and the American people.
