The problem with a kleptocracy, which the Unites States has become, is that those entities that hold the economic cards -- banks, giant corporations, billionaires -- exercise their power for themselves alone. "Sacrifice" for the good of the nation is good for the little people, but big money has no allegiance to anyone but itself. And of course those politicians who are on the corporations' payroll or are suffering from riches envy exact no price at all for the privilege of doing business here and in fact see to it that the vacuum cleaner that sucks the wealth of our nation into the pockets of a few is well oiled.
