Societal cost versus individual gain.

Ronald Reagan declared that greed is good, and since then anyone raising the question of what the cost of an enormous personal fortune is to society has been shouted down as "socialist."

I can see the confusion: "social," "society," "socialism" all have similar spellings, so anyone foolish enough to defend the interests of "society" must be a commie pinko, right?

There is a minute possibility this ignorance will end now. Probably not, but anything can happen.
