Yeah, but Grover Norquist's lemmings reject taxes out of hand, and they equate government "meddling" in the so-called free market with Stalinism. No, Republicans prefer to subsidize junk food manufacturers, and they do not characterize these subsidies as "socialism" because the subsidies are used to generate big profits for private enterprises. This logic makes sense to Republicans. Good luck getting them behind a "social engineering" plan that is good for people's health. Republicans prefer social engineering plans that are good for giant corporations' profits. But they don't call these plans social engineering. They call them the "free market," so forget it.
