Not too smart.

Editor,

I'm with Marie Burns's comment that our president in actuality is not too smart. In fact, I find it remarkable that the same thought crossed my mind today: that President Obama knows how to project the illusion of being smart but is in fact quite dumb.

There is also that cloying ingratiating smile of his, his seemingly insatiable need to be accepted by people who hate his guts. I get the impression that at some deep place in the president's psyche he equates negotiation with giving everything he can to be liked.

His speeches, too. All this "now is the moment" rhetoric. His entire shtick is, "See, I am just like you. Anything you want, I want that too."

The gods must hate the United States, because we have a perfect storm here of crazed extremists, whose I've-got-mine ideology is basically a death wish for our nation, and a so-called leader who is so preoccupied with being perceived as everybody's pal that he doesn't have a clue what is going on or what to do about it.
