Republicans hold out a gun in every hand as the solution to the ever increasing economic inequality they are engineering in this country. It fits with their pledge not to tax anybody who has money, only wage slaves and poor people, because their vision is that guns protect the property of the haves from have nots who are presumably out to steal it. This reminds me of the interminable paranoia Southern whites felt about -- and the sick laws they enacted to protect themselves from -- slaves getting together and revolting.

- I like the way birds tell each other when someone is approaching, how briefly they swoop in to feed on berries in the wild, how they fly away as fast as they possibly can after pecking off a morsel or two, and how big the creek behind where I am staying gets when it's been raining hard for a few days.
