Postcard to Bill Keller.

Editor,

Five weeks into a movement whose objective is to dismantle an economic coup d'etat that has been consolidating its power for more than 30 years, and Mr. Keller is impatient for "results."

Is Mr. Keller the last person on planet Earth to grasp the big-picture significance of the Occupy movement: that the institutional bases of American democracy have been coopted by transnational corporations and a financial sector that are brazenly looting everything that is not tied down?

You can't write the solution to this dysfunctional state of affairs on a postcard, and even if you do, people and institutions that are used to killing whoever gets in their way are not about to give up power willingly.
