No room left.

Editor,

"Financial services" -- read rip-off artists and scammers -- are a poor foundation upon which to build an economy. Ask the USA.

Between so-called "defense" industries and Wall Street, there is almost no room left for alternative energy, universal health care, affordable housing, mass transportation, old-age pensions, public education, or any of the infrastructure that once-upon-a-time made the USA an outstanding country for an everyday citizen to live in: county, state, and national parks; public libraries; art, theater, music, dance; etc.
