Oh, yes.

Editor,

This Republican canard about being able to go to a "competitor" for a product or service that only a handful of corporations provide is laughable on its face.

There is no practical difference from a consumer's point of view between a market in which one company has monopoly power and one in which monopoly power is distributed among a few enormous, multi-billion-dollar companies.

The same is true for Republicans' argument that unions are unnecessary because individual workers can negotiate with their employers without collective bargaining.

Oh, yes. An hourly worker who makes $24,000 a year is on an equal footing with a CEO who makes $10 million -- assuming that worker can get anywhere within 100 yards of the boardroom door.
