Editor,
Republicans always use their code word "redistribution" to decry the supposedly obvious and supposedly rampant "redistribution" of the estimable earnings of their industrious, innovative "job creator" master race downward to the indolent, lazy moochers who don't bathe very often or speak English very well.
But the fact is that billions upon billions of dollars that truly hard working taxpayers earn by the sweat of their brow are redistributed upward, as subsidies, into the pockets of martini-sipping so-called defense contractors, agribusiness sharpies, and fossil fuel planet-destroyers.
If there is a welfare state in the USA, it is welfare for the rich. And people who actually work for a living pay for it.
Also, Willard Romney proposes to eliminate capital gains taxes, which is the only source of income for millionaires who don't work but merely skim the fruits of everyone else's labor into their own offshore bank accounts.
Not taxing this plunder even at the paltry rates their accomplices in the US House and Senate arrange for them is the epitome of precisely that government dependency the right-wing claims to care so much about.
