Entitlements.

Replace the word "entitlements" with the phrase "earned benefits" in every newspaper article and TV news story, and see how fast the right-wing assault on Social Security and Medicare withers.

The media, including the NY Times, are complicit in this ruse.

What the right wing means by "entitlement" is what Romney meant in his famous 47% remarks: "entitled" to education, health care, food. The preposterous assumption that you deserve what you do not.

The right wing, who are of course the world's most inventive recipients of handouts to themselves, have successfully cast benefits that are earned as handouts that are theirs to bestow or withhold.

Never lose sight of who the makers are and who the takers are in this world. The right have flipped that one on its ear also.
