Editor,
The second graph on this GAO webpage tells me all I want to know about that ridiculous National Debt clock Republican rubes have set up everywhere you look: Budget and Federal Debt.
As Paul Krugman has written time and time again, the magnitude of the debt pales in importance next to the percentage of the budget that is spent on debt service. Look at the graph. That number is the lowest it has been in more than 35 years.
And of course if you are worried about debt as a percentage of GDP, grow the stupid GDP!
This entire exercise in debt mania is a combination, IMO, of two things:
1. Real, actual, in-your-face class warfare by enemies of the American people who are more dangerous and more ruthless than al Qaeda, and
2. Republican dimwits who lack the cognitive skills required to grasp abstractions like thermodynamics -- OR ECONOMICS!
This nation is being driven over a cliff by madmen as demented and destructive as a James Bond villain and idiots as dense as a stone.
I am truly, seriously, disgusted.
