Editor,
Given that humanity is not going to be migrating to another planet anytime soon, there is no alternative for now but to treat the Earth as though it is the only place in the immensity of space where life exists and promote preserving the capability for life to continue here to priority number one.
Higher than making money. Higher than making war.
Anyone who is not asleep knows that the oceans, the forests, the air, and the water are fouled virtually to the breaking point.
Money will not buy anything if our civilization is allowed to collapse under the weight of environmental degradation.
A radical structuring of human society is necessary and possible.
Thinking along these lines should be encouraged, not pepper-sprayed, tear-gassed, truncheoned, and jailed.
