I worry that knowledge common among at least a swath (I do not know how wide) of boomers will be lost on generations coming up --- because it is deliberately unspoken, and when a bit of it does circulate, it is disconnected from the whole of 20th century American imperial history.

Oliver Stone's "Untold History of the United States" or the films at this site should be shown in high schools, but of course they never will: http://metanoia-films.org/films/.
