Editor,
CO2 doesn't go away if you stop pumping more of it into the atmosphere, assuming the pumping is anything like going to stop.
It isn't like a certain number of molecules of CO2 equals a certain quantity of heat trapped by the atmosphere and that is that. No. The quantity is additive. More than you would like is trapped today, more tomorrow, and more each day for many years into the future.
Everyone should take off all their clothes and run wildly down Main Street. Go berserk because our civilization is going to die. Dance around crazily like those Israelites worshiping the golden calf in Cecil B. DeMille's "The Ten Commandments." Pour wine all over yourself.
We are finished. Worse and worse every year from here on out.
Cops should shoot more innocent people. Bankers should steal more money. NORAD should shoot off a few hydrogen bombs. Whoopee, we're all gonna die.
