Editor,
No consequences, eh?
Your lies kill a million people, displace five million from their homes, destroy a country that did nothing to the USA, cost American taxpayers 3 trillion dollars, and a NY Times columnist makes excuses for you because you are "smart" and "elegant."
Rice and her entire coterie of neocons are lucky Obama is a team player, seems not to think too much about his Nobel Prize, and says he looks to the "future" rather than the "past." Otherwise she, and they, would be standing in a dock at the Hague where they belong.
Oh, ha ha ha. A little bad judgment here, a little Shakespearean hubris there. We're all so winkingly amused and knowing. All those dead people? All those kids who committed atrocities that will drive them crazy for the rest of their lives?
Forget it. Americans don't look back. Americans don't learn from history. They don't have to. They just kill and kill and kill. To spread plutocracy, make the world safe for corporations, make rich people richer.
Torture? Dick Cheney says it works. Invasion? Donald Rumsfeld has semantic reasons for it. Lying about aluminum tubes? How does Maureen Dowd explain it? Selling her soul? How quaint.
