More effective than getting children of affluent families used to making charitable contributions to help the "disadvantaged" or "unlucky" would be to educate these children to the fact that people impoverished by corporate plunder and American foreign policy -- the assassinaton of Patrice Lumumba, for example, or replacing popular democratic governments in Latin America with murderous right-wing regimes -- are not poor because they are "unlucky," unless by unlucky you mean living in a country targeted by the USA, or working in a state corrupted to its core by right-wing ideology.
