Puke.

Editor,

What bothers me most about this bombing spree the military-industrial complex has embarked on is that it is yet another example of how blithely Washington drops everything of importance to the American people -- militarized police, global warming, economic inequality, corporate tax dodging, construct your own list -- and starts prattling on with the usual Orwellian rhetoric about how "extraordinary" and "exceptional" the USA is and extolling its "fighting men and women whose service we so gratefully appreciate," as if the true purpose of the USA, its true calling, its essence, its sine qua non is its jets and bombs.

"Oh, don't worry about all that society stuff. What this country does is bomb things. Forget about the job you don't have, the student loans you can't pay, the roof you don't have over your head, the food you can't afford, the wages your boss is stealing from you. Forget all that stuff. We're going to WAR! War is what makes this country great!" It makes me want to puke.
