Who cares?

Editor,

The military industrial complex needs another war.

Russia would probably use nuclear artillery shells if we escalate in Ukraine, so they're out.

IS is perfect. Edit out all of the contextual complexities, like the USA having fired Saddam's army and sectarianized the politics of historically secular and multicultural Iraq.

Also, and most important, ignore that IS dragging the U.S. into a global quagmire is exactly IS's objective.

How can American policy makers be so dumb? Answer: They spend $700 billion a year that should go to education, housing, child care, health, retirement, infrastructure, etc. on high-tech military equipment; so they feel themselves grooving with the universe when they come up with someone to bomb with all those aircraft carriers and jets.

The USA fighting IS is exactly the recruiting tool jihadis want: a foreign military in the Muslim lands. Hence the horrendous videos that I won't even watch. Osama bin Laden did the same thing with 9/11. The U.S. killing Afghan and other civilians with drones (Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, I forget where else) -- not to mention demolishing Iraq -- ultimately gave us IS.

You can't talk to the military minds in Washington. You can't talk to Obama or to Congress either. The one thing the USA knows it has is bombers. Who cares what will result if we use them? Just so long as a coalition of white, Western, nominally Christian countries ratify the idea.
