Editor,
Every cop -- or gang of six cops -- who beat to a pulp or shoot to death an unarmed black kid or homeless person claims they feared for their life.
Read ten or a dozen stories, like the one about the jury award of more than $4 million in Denver yesterday for Marvin Booker's death by police brutality, and watch the videos. The claim is always the same.
What killer cops don't seem to understand is that the whole world hears their testimony now, and their lame fear-for-their-life excuse is wearing awfully thin.
Police work can be dangerous and unpleasant. It takes a special kind of person to shoulder that kind of responsibility.
Looking at the cowards in tanks and riot gear across the USA who are doing that job now, a mass firing is in order, starting at the top, and people with a deep love in their hearts for the marginalized and helpless in this world should be invited to step up.
The real criminals are drinking champagne and driving around in limousines at the top of the net worth pyramid. Nobody touches them. Just homeless people and people with the wrong skin color.
