The Cold War may be over, but hundreds of thousands of Latin American peasants are dead at the hands of U.S. proxies.

Where are the American dead? Where are U.S. apologies for overthrowing popular governments in the region, installing vicious military dictators friendly to U.S. corporations in their place, and training right-wing thugs in the techniques of torture and terror?

That the USA kills anyone and destroys any country that it cares to is bad enough. But it forgets all about it, pats itself on the back, and floats on a cloud of sanctimony, barely noticing and blithely forgiving itself for every crime against humanity that it commits.
