The Center Abandoned

No mention in your editorial of exporting American manufacturing jobs, nor of Central American factory labor being paid a pittance, without benefits, to produce consumer goods for the American market. So-called free trade, which is based on the belief that "the economy" consists of financial markets, benefits international capitalists and is marketed to working people with distortions, omissions, and promises that are at odds with verifiable fact. It is disappointing but not surprising that the Washington Post collaborates enthusiastically with this model.
