Bush is mistaken about Iraq.

Editor,

George Bush claims that threatening statements today by al Qaeda vindicate his having invaded Iraq. But today's opportunistic posturing by al Qaeda simply demonstrates that George Bush's ill-conceived and bull-headed rush to war has weakened the United States in the eyes of our enemies and, by foolishly entangling our military in Iraq, exposed them to attack.

British police, less than a month after the recent bombings there, have suspects in custody and seem to be hot on the trail of others. Almost 4 years after 9/11 George Bush is still being taunted by al Qaeda and is wasting our nation's blood and treasure in an irrelevant, doomed, and ideologically-driven adventure in Iraq.

9/11 called in the loudest possible voice for stronger ties with moderates in the Moslem world and concerted police efforts to protect our citzenry. Instead, George Bush, on the basis of lies, distortions, and half-truths, invaded Iraq, providing needless opportunity for our enemies to attack us and further provoking disaffected Moslem youth to hate us.

Yet this idiot George Bush claims that the diminishment in our defensive capabilities and the erosion of our standing in the Moslem world that he personally has caused are a triumph for him and his policies. Is there no one on the House Judiciary Committee who understands these things?
