Bill Clinton's proposed "dialogue on race" did not disappear in a "torrent of words." It disappeared in a relentless, all-Monica-all-the-time cacophony orchestrated by a savage right intent on derailing his initiatives and debilitating his presidential power. Bush's "have mores" will not brook progressive reform in this country, as their only objective is to steal as much as possible from anyone they can.
