Editor,
Bumbler-in-chief George Bush has requested citizens to drive less to "conserve" gasoline, rich people exempt. Yet another CYA substitute for planning, and it includes the usual advice that "regulations be relaxed." Gasoline conservation comes in the form of mass transit -- proactive investment in technologies and transportation infrastructure that lesson Americans' dependence on highways and personal trucks. But George Bush and his fellow incompetents do not govern. They are placeholders for the wealthy capitalists who view government as standing in the way of greater profit and are busily dismantling government as George Bush speaks.
