Poverty certainly doesn't account for crime.
Take Bill Frist, for example. His family's business, HCA, defrauded federal and state programs that provide health care to poor people out of hundreds of millions of dollars. Bill Frist. Majority leader of the United States Senate. Presidential hopeful. Multimillionaire.
HCA paid the largest punitive damages fine in the history of the United States. $1.8 billion.
Is it your position that the eight-year-olds from whom multimillionaire Senators steal education, housing, and health care funds must demonstrate "individual initiative" and take "responsibility" for their futures? Rich white people's eight-year-old progeny don't do that. Do you suggest they should?
