George Bush equals Augusto Pinochet.

Editor,

On Sept.11, 1973, in Chile, Augusto Pinochet, assisted by the CIA, overthrew Salvador Allende's democratically elected government. Pinochet annulled habeas corpus, disappeared and tortured dissidents, killing many, and used military tribunals to convict the rest on the basis of confessions extracted using torture and evidence not revealed to defendants -- precisely the methods employed by George Bush's fascist dictatorship and now being rubber-stamped by his Republican accomplices in the U.S. Congress.
