Now George Bush wants to surveil disposable cell phones and anonymous email accounts. Ending terrorism would be easier if he fashioned a policy towards Israel that supports justice for the Palestinians, pulled his army out of Iraq, negotiated with Iran, stopped beating up on Hezbollah, Hamas, and Syria, and in general sought good relations with Moslems based on mutual respect, the rule of law, and the renunciation of violence as a means to resolve political differences.

Yes, yes, a small minority of radical bombers are capable of doing much damage, but if the United States were perceived by the vast majority in the region as a genuine friend, this minority would be marginalized and disposed of by their own.
