Especially since 1979, American corporate interests have come to trump all other concerns at home and abroad. Overt and covert regime change, suppression of human rights, and enormous military expenditures in support of these policies have raised anti-American sentiment across large swaths of the planet to the level of violence. The super-rich need to learn to relax, enjoy the booty they have managed to steal thus far, and leave a little room for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness by the faceless billions who actually experience themselves and their families as the most important people in the world.
