Editor,
It would have been helpful if during the Roberts and Alioto hearings the NYT exposed these men as the "conservative ideologues" they are rather than to have blithely gone along with the vapid line that Judiciary Committee hearings are not the place for prospective justices to discuss their reasoning on the most pressing legal issues of our time.
