Editor,
Whether times are good or bad the objective and the rules will never change: when business is bad make sure the rich stay rich, when business is good make sure the rich get richer. Corporate bosses and big-time stock and bond holders always come first the way things are set up in America. Workers, citizens, and everybody else come last.
To keep the scam alive profuse and saccharine lip service is paid to the "courage" and "bravery" of American troops and the "productivity" and "drive" of American workers and the "opportunity" to "succeed" in the United States, a giant lie of course, as anything to enhance the lives of people in America who are not rich, like education, welfare, health care, is dumped because it costs rich people money.
You've got to hand it to the rich people. They have succeeded in the last 30 years in getting schmoes whose lives hang in their balance to shout the rich people's mantra from the rooftops: "Keep your hands off what's mine!"
