No We Can't.

Barack Obama lost my support this week when, as reason number two for not releasing the photos in question, he declared that the abuse was carried out by a few low-ranking soldiers who have already been punished.

Barack does not believe that, the American public does not believe that, and I do not believe that. The whole point of Abu Ghraib is that the policy of abuse, humiliation, and torture emanated from the White House and traveled a clearly documented, corroborated path down the chain of command.

Why is Mr. Yes-We-Can lying? Why has he chosen to ally himself with precisely the vermin who need to be purged from the American ruling class? Read "The Limits of Power" by Andrew Bacevich for a decent crack at the answer.
