Workers unite!

Editors,

The American economy has been down-sized.

Six, 9, 10, 15, 20 -- however many -- million working people have been dumped into long-term unemployment and/or poverty (which according to the NYT is becoming ever more criminalized in the United States) so that the rich stay rich and what remains of the middle class are able to keep their noses out of the ocean . . . for now, until the next bubble bursts and the next round of cuts from the economy are made.

The fundamental principle that drives American politics is that workers who are still getting paid breathe a big sigh of relief when they hear about workers who have been thrown overboard. If there were solidarity among American working people, the infuriating and egregious inequities in the game of Three Card Monte a.k.a. the American economy would not stand for 5 more minutes.
