Editor,
This is a strange argument coming from the NYT, indefatigable champions of corporate globalism and so-called "free trade."
When rich Americans are the "winners," all is fair, but when the Chinese outfox the foxes, you cry foul. Privatizing the water supply in Cochabamba and any number of similarly larcenous moves that impoverish indigenous and working people worldwide are just fine according to the NYT if American corporations are the "winners," but when China cheats on the currency exchanges, why, that is simply unacceptable.
I have news for you: killers and thieves run "business" on the planet Earth. Clean up Wall Street, K Street, war profiteering, and any number of other ripoffs upon which the American GDP rests, and then we will listen to your complaint about China.
